Coffee · experienced baristas · macarons · tiny · cute
Black Delight is a tiny coffee shop in Eimsbüttel. The coffee here is as good as it can get. You can choose from usually two different types of espresso, which they describe with a few words like nutty, floral, chocolatey, fruity, “hazelnut-nougaty,” earthy… Their baristas are professional and can advise you on your choice of coffee. In the summer they have some specials like espresso tonics, cold brew coffee, or iced latte. You can always get something for the sweet tooth like macarons, cakes, tarts, or muffins, but there’s also a small selection of sandwiches.
This coffee shop is pretty tiny, but a peaceful—although maybe crowded—place for a morning or afternoon coffee. You can read some of their magazines and newspapers that they have for customers. In the middle there’s one long bar table, around it a few tiny tables that seat two to three people. In the very back, if you go up a few steps, there’s one more small, private, cozy seating area for a few more customers. If the weather is good enough, you can also use some of their outside seating. They sell their own espresso blends (beans or ground), filter coffee, cold drip coffee, cups, and further coffee accessories.

Now called Blackline, with a second location in St. Pauli. Still (one of) the very best coffee shops in Hamburg. I thought of giving the photos a deserved update, but I’m keeping it as is, for some retro flair.
